Biography

Riitta Hellén-Vuoti is a Finnish painter. Born in Oulu in 1959, she now works in Kuopio. Her artistic focus is contemporary art and poetry. Her artwork has been on display in various galleries around Finland. By education she is a licensed medical specialist in psychiatry and psychotherapy.

Statement

I am interested in the human being and understanding life. In art it’s possible to be surrounded by all the questions and concepts. When I was young, I thought that I would grow up to be a painter, and now life has managed to make it possible. I started using oil paint on canvas, but now I also use mixed media. Paintings and poetry are mindscapes. They can sometimes be the same, painting and poem – I call them poem-paintings.
