Basically I am an artist with classical education but in my creative work I try to find some “area” where I could unite the merits of the school with the discoveries of contemporary art. I like to represent humans, their faces and bodies, for me it is always amazing to see how beautiful the Nature created this form.
I can work in different genres so I often vary my creative activities. Mostly I do quite big thematic paintings from imagination, I like to do them by series, to unite them in some certain thematic project. But also, if I need rest after finishing something big, I like to work from life, to paint models or to do sketches. Or I can do abstract compositions and to sculpt from clay.
The style of my paintings could be called “tending to postmodernism”, because I use lines, decorative shapes, interpret and stylize objects , trying to find some conventional, only my own reality. Colors for me are extremely important, I try them to carry emotions and philosophy. Also I often explore capability of the modern paints and materials.
In portraits of people I like to mix similarity with interpretation. I try to catch the essence of the persons but to look at them like at some decorative representations.
In my big paintings I may give only a hint to contemporariety or even not to do it at all, trying to make them to look generalized and “out of time”, because I try to invent kind of another reality, where the characters live their emotional spiritual life. In majority my characters are nude young women, they are naked because I represent them like rather spiritual essences but not everyday living persons .
