Eric Hubbes

I was born in London in February 1988 and spent my childhood in Frankfurt and Cologne where I passed my Abitur/baccalaureate, after one Year in Scotland at the Glenalmond college where I focused on fine arts. After trying Geo-Science for 3 successful semesters in Münster, and Mathematics in Cologne, I turn to art. I went to the HKU-School of Arts in Utrecht, where I learned very important lessons. After 3 successful semesters, I decided to work on my own.  I returned to Cologne/Germany where I live and work Today   Art is a part of me and my well-being. I love to communicate through shapes, forms and colours. As long as I can remember drawing and painting are my way to grasp with the world around me. Painting is a way to externalise feelings. I need art to stay well balanced. I try out new ways in my artistic self-discovery phase, in which I rearrange my emotions, feelings and thoughts through my so-called “Grübel paintings” or muse paintings. Each such creation is the dance of forms, colours, vibrations and thoughts that manifest themselves in fractal and spiral movements.  The complete detachment and freedom let the subconscious dominate above all. Like in a trance state, the painting emerges from itself. The inner boundaries within myself fall apart, and I often feel how distant fragments of a lost personality in the form of strange creatures seek a connection with me and possibly the viewer through my painting language. They often appear as emotional facial expressions, which were created accidentally through form compositions in my paintings.
